Donald Trump Talked At The National Scout Jamboree And It Went Horribly Wrong

President Donald Trump’s speech at the National Scout Jamboree in West Virginia has drawn outrage from parents and former troop members.

The POTUS received a standing ovation from thousands of school-aged Scouts before launching into a bit of profanity as he attacked his political enemies.

The Boy Scouts’ official Facebook page was quickly filled up with comments condemning the speech.

When President Trump mentioned former President Barack Obama, many of the Scouts in attendance began to boo. Trump instigated the crowd by mentioning that President Obama did not personally attend either of the two national summits during his tenure.

Trump’s statement is only partly true. President Obama didn’t attend the Jamboree in person, however, he did speak in 2010 via live video to celebrate the Scouts’ 100th anniversary.

The backlash directed at Donald Trump was immediate, Sen. Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat, wrote on Twitter, “As a Scout leader, my stomach is in knots about what Trump did today… If you haven’t watched it yet, don’t. It’s downright icky.”

After traveling to the rural location of the 10-day event, Trump said, “Who the hell wants to speak about politics when I’m in front of the Boy Scouts? Right?” A comment that led to cheering from the sophomoric group of boys.

Trump was eventually joined on stage by Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price — an Eagle Scout. Trump jokingly threatened to fire Price if lawmakers do not repeal and replace Obama’s health care law.

Trump then referred to Washington as a “swamp,” “cesspool,” and “sewer” before trashing the media and directing his attention to the reporters in attendance.

The 45th POTUS then told the boys in attendance they could start saying “Merry Christmas” again under his watch.

Trump’s speech forced the organization to release a statement in which it said no political candidate or philosophy was being endorsed by the Boys Scouts of America.
