It didn’t take an industry insider to predict how Samsung would handle its inventory following recent price adjustments. After the base Galaxy S24 received a permanent price cut last month while its larger siblings did not, the writing was on the wall. Now, what many expected has finally materialized: shortly after the apparent discontinuation of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the Galaxy S24 Plus seems to have met the same fate.
The 6.7-inch Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powerhouse has officially gone out of stock in all configurations on Samsung’s US website. While the company hasn’t issued a formal press release declaring the device dead, the signs are unmistakable. Following the launch of the Galaxy S25 series in January, Samsung has been silent on the S24 family, leaving consumers to spot the inventory shifts on their own. For weeks, the S24 Plus has been dwindling down to a few carrier-locked variants, and now, with stock completely dried up, the chances of a revival are slim to non-existent.
The Logic Behind the Cut
From a market perspective, reviving the S24 Plus would make little sense. The newer Galaxy S25 Plus is objectively superior and, crucially, launched at the exact same $999.99 price point for the entry-level 256GB model. Current promotions make the older model even less relevant; the improved S25 Plus has seen limited-time markdowns to $849.99 for both the 256GB and, amazingly, the 512GB variants. With deals like that available without trade-in requirements, the S24 Plus has become a poor investment, rendering it obsolete in the current mobile landscape.
Looking Ahead: A Surprise for the Galaxy S26
While the dust settles on the S24’s retirement, attention is shifting rapidly to the future. Contrary to industry fears regarding rising component costs, Samsung appears to have a surprisingly generous strategy planned for the upcoming Galaxy S26 launch. Reports surfacing from the UK indicate that Samsung will offer a free storage upgrade to early adopters, defying expectations of a “memory crisis.”
There was a plausible concern that the boom in on-device AI applications—which demand massive amounts of fast flash memory—would drive up prices. The increased demand for memory chips has already spiked costs on the global market, leading many analysts to assume manufacturers would pass those costs onto consumers or slash promotional offers. However, confirmed details for the UK market suggest the opposite is true for the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra.
Double the Storage, No Extra Cost
Under the confirmed promotion, customers who pre-order a 256GB model will automatically receive the 512GB version at no additional charge. This effectively allows buyers to save approximately €200 (around $215), depending on the specific model. It’s a bold move to drive early adoption despite the financial pressure on the supply chain.
The promotional window is tightly coupled with the official unveiling. The pre-order period kicks off immediately following the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25, 2026, and runs through March 11, 2026. This end date likely signals when the devices will officially hit retail shelves and begin shipping to customers.
Additional Incentives for Early Birds
To sweeten the deal, Samsung is layering on additional perks. Those who register their interest on the company’s website prior to the event will receive a voucher worth roughly €30 (about $32) in Samsung Credit. Importantly, this offer isn’t expected to be exclusive to the official Samsung store; it will likely be available across major retail partners, giving consumers the flexibility to choose their preferred vendor while still securing the double-storage bonus.
